Children of Hope

We're From the children of hope.

The children of hope wish to spread our message of love and peace to you in today's stressful world. We would wish that you manage to find a place of inner peace from which you can protect yourself from the stress and unhappiness from everyday life which causes so much pain - please at least have a go at releasing those tensions to find sanctity within your own world.

Basics of meditation
We feel that the first step to enlightenment is to learn to meditate and to bring this knowledge into your life and daily routine. This hopefully will then bring you into focus for the next step as it will prepare your karma and help to cleanse your Aura of spiritual debris.

Meditation is not only there to help you relax. It is there to relieve tension and stress, to help with the stresses and strains of everyday life. There are a few suggested ways of meditation on our start page. All of them are useful to relax or re-energise you. We believe more in the use of candles than anything else as the rising of smoke from them is like the lifting of the pollution from your Aura. This is also good for concentrating on specific problems. However sometimes this is not possible and so for people without much time or money to spend on candles then using a home environment or self-hypnosis is good. To try to build your confidence or to help yourself feel a certain way to help you cope with a certain situation we suggest using a mirror or self-hypnosis.
As for the time to take for meditation we recommend that you do at least twenty minutes a day - preferably twenty minutes after breakfast and then another twenty to wind down at night. The longer you do it for the better and the best time to do it is when you feel the most stressed so stopping to breath deeply during a tricky situation may help you to concentrate on the task ahead.
Some people use drugs to help them relax. Unless these are prescribed by your doctor this is not recommended though there are some legal and natural herbs which you can use in cooking or you can use as incense to help you relax. This is still not advised though as meditation is meant to be an inner thing and drugs are only a temporary solution often leaving more problems than they solve. We, the children of hope, believe that meditation is the very first rung on the ladder to enlightenment. We believe that learning to meditate and feeling how this helps you in everyday life will prepare you for the other steps. We do not give you instant access other steps as we believe that if they are taken before you are prepared and cleansed then it breaks up the ladder. To learn of the other steps you must write to our guide.

Methods of meditation
Meditating using a mirror, or mirror wishing is mainly to solve problems rather than to relax or revitalise. The children of hope find that this helps to boost confidence and helps people feel better within themselves. This is important as we believe that you judge yourself and that you follow what you feel is right as all people are given the power to judge and those that are not have the power to learn and understand.Sit comfortably in front of a mirror, fitting as much of you in as possible. Breathe in deeply for the count of three and count to three before breathing out for the count of three. Repeat this examining yourself in the mirror. Clear your mind and concentrate only on what you can see, what is around you and yourself. Look for the good and the bad things. List your three worst physical features and the three prefer. Then think about what is inside. Think about the day. What you would do differently if you could play it through again. Now start thinking about you again. Name three bad traits and three good. Now try to hear your heartbeat, feel it pulsating. You need to keep your head clear and fill your mind only with the beating of your heart for at least five minutes. Open your eyes and examine what you see before and around you. Keep breathing to the count of three. Look yourself in the eyes and convince yourself of one thing your going to change to make you a better person.

The key aspects of using a home environment are for your comfort. If you don't like what you hear play some relaxing music. Burning incense is traditional. Make sure that you are not going to be interrupted in any way. Like feeling hungry or needing to go to the toilet or wanting to watch a program on your television. Have a glass of water by your side to drink if you get thirsty and if you do start doing this for long enough to get hungry have a simple snack by your side, not derived from the slaughter of an animal. The time you spend meditating you should spend respectful of the world around you. Eating meat is really bad for your Karma. The best sound to meditate to is silence. When you have successfully mastered meditating you should be able to cut out all other sounds apart from the inner ones. Sit there in the dark and concentrate on cutting out all external distractions and cleanse your mind of outer turbulence. Just sit and listen out for your heart beating. Keep your breathing slow and regular as well as deep. You can either just sit there for as long as possible or wait until you are in a place of inner peace and lie down. Make sure that no part of you is crossed over and that you are as spread out as possible with as little of you touching as is possible. Close your eyes. Mentally visualise each part of your body in turn working up inch by inch. Mentally massage yourself. Keep concentrating on this as hard as possible, working towards your heart inch by inch. When you get to your heart stop and work your way up your arms to your shoulders and from your neck to your head and then along your body towards your heart again. To do this properly takes a lot of energy and will either really relax you or really stimulate you depending on how it's done. You should feel discomfort in the part of your body you are thinking about and then immense relief and flexibility. When you have finished meditating bring yourself back into the outside world slowly and rest for a few minutes before going back to the strain of everyday life, or going to sleep. The number of candles you use is not important, as long as you prepare a main one properly. Nightlights may be safer and cheaper than most other candles but it is better to use tall candles not made of animal fat. The more naturalistic the candles are the better in fact if you have the time the best type of candle to use is one you have made yourself whilst feeling calm so that the tranquillity that went into making the candle may help you to relax further. What is important is the colour of the main candle and that it is anointed with incense. To anoint your candle, think of it as a magnet and stroke oil or incense from the centre of the candle up towards the wick and then down from the centre towards its base. It does not matter what you anoint it with - a little cooking oil will do, if you have no incense oils or perfume. Be careful of using highly flammable substances or creating a scent you won't find aromatic. Scented oils can be found all over and will mean that your candle burns fragrantly. To find out the colour that will best suit you see below. It is theoretically more efficient to use the recommended colours but if this doesn't help you then it's better that you find a more suitable colour.Astral coloursZodiac sign Colour to use Back up colourAquarius Blue GreenPisces White GreenAries White PinkTaurus Red YellowGemini Red BlueCancer Green BrownLeo Red GreenVirgo Gold BlackLibra Black BlueScorpio Brown BlackSagittarius Gold RedCapricorn Red BrownDays of the week - either the day you are doing this on or the day you were born on. Sometimes you may not like the colour given to your sign and this gives you a little leeway, after all meditation is an individual thing. Changing the colour for each day of the week may mean buying a lot of different coloured candles or may be expensive or a pain to store.Day Colours to use Colours to avoidMonday White PurpleTuesday Red OrangeWednesday Purple Red/greenThursday Blue White/orangeFriday Green BrownSaturday Black YellowSunday Yellow Blue/brownThe symbolism of the colours - his means that you may choose your colour depending on what you wish to achieve or overcome. The significance of colours is not really important unless you are meditating on a certain problem. Make sure that you are comfortable and won't be disturbed. The best way to do this in a darkened room, in silence. If you can not achieve silence then the best way is to play music you find relaxing (preferably slow and without lyrics) as quietly as possible in the background. Then when everything is prepared think about the day you have had. Go through it bit by bit. Concentrate on the things you found important, replay them to yourself and try to clarify the images as a third person. Then light the candle and again clear your mind whilst breathing deeply. Keep looking at the candle and inhaling slowly and deeply. Sit comfortably with your back as straight as possible. If you are trying to meditate on a certain thing then do that whilst breathing slowly and deeply, keep your mind focused on that one thing. If it is something you are trying to get rid of - an affliction or addiction or perhaps some other kind of problem then watch it disappear on the smoke. If you are trying to work something out about a situation concentrate on the centre of the candle. If you are trying to be revitalised then clear your mind and concentrate on the vibrant yellows of the flame. If you are trying to relax sit more comfortably, and clear your mind, keep it as empty as possible. When you have finished try to clear your mind again or to keep it clear, let the rest of the world back in slowly bit by bit when you are ready.~How to meditate using self hypnosisYou can quite easily do this on the buss, in the dentist's waiting room, where ever you can energise safely. Firstly you need to get as comfortable as possible. Empty your mind and close your eyes. Think about what you can feel, sensationalise, perhaps the warmth of whatever you are sat on, maybe the pressure of something in front or next to you, perhaps the draft from a window, the material of your clothing - that kind of thing. Think about what you can smell and taste. Then think about what you can hear around you, perhaps only the sound of your breathing, birds or traffic. Spend perhaps five minutes or more on each of these then opening your eyes to see what's around you, concentrate on the depths and details of things, the colours and shades as you gradually let the world back in. Closing your eyes is quite important and so is relaxing. If you want to use this exercise to boost your confidence or to convince yourself of something then do this by repeating whatever it is you want to convince yourself of at least five times, breathing deeply and slowly each time you do. You need to do this just before opening your eyes, then after spending a few minuets working on your visual senses. Then sit up straight, breath deeply once again and repeat it again more convincingly about three times, preferably out loud.
